Corporate security covers the officers and programs that protect an office, headquarters or business campus — the lobby and reception posts, access-control desks, visitor management and after-hours coverage that keep employees safe and unauthorized people out, without making the workplace feel like a fortress. Unlike a warehouse gate or a construction fence, a corporate post is customer-facing: the officer is the first person an employee, client or visitor meets, so professionalism, communication and judgment matter as much as security fundamentals. These officers are supplied by licensed guard companies — a BSIS Private Patrol Operator (PPO) firm with Guard Card officers in California, an IDFPR-licensed agency with PERC officers in Illinois.
The core corporate post sits at the lobby or access-control desk, where the officer greets and directs people, enforces the building's entry policy, monitors the access-control and camera systems, and is the human backstop to the electronic controls — challenging tailgaters, verifying credentials and handling the situations technology can't. A polished, well-trained officer here sets the tone for the whole building.
Corporate programs formalize how guests enter: registration and badging, host notification, watchlist and ID checks, and time-limited visitor credentials, often through a visitor-management system the officer administers. Done right, this keeps a clean record of who was in the building and when, separates visitors from employee-only areas, and closes the most common gap in office security — the unescorted stranger.
A corporate security program is also the front line for workplace-violence prevention and emergency response: recognizing and de-escalating threats, supporting terminations and restraining-order situations, managing medical events, and executing evacuation and lockdown plans. Officers should be trained in de-escalation and integrated into the company's emergency procedures, not just posted at a desk.
Because corporate posts demand higher-skill, customer-facing officers, they bill at a modest premium to a basic guard post, and the difference is worth it: turnover, appearance and communication are visible to every employee and client. Larger organizations layer in a security operations center, multi-site standards, executive protection and technology integration under one program.
A corporate post runs roughly $8,800–$14,100 per month for a single 12-hour daily shift — a step above a basic guard post, reflecting the higher-skill, customer-facing officer a corporate environment needs. Program cost scales with the number of posts, coverage hours and how deeply security integrates with access control and video. As with any post, 24/7 coverage of one position takes two to four officers.
Estimated prices per guard post/month. Guard-post economics × ~1.1 for customer-facing, higher-skill lobby/access-control officers. Program cost scales with posts, coverage hours and technology integration.
